It’s a shame that, after all these years, it had to arrive in such a sorry state. I’ve also enjoyed checking out Chrono Cross on Steam Deck over the last week or so where it runs quite well after some tweaking, and it’s a great way to play it if you have the option.Ĭhrono Cross is an incredible game that has been deserving a remaster for far too long. The new graphical style sadly has too many issues to bother with right now on any platform sadly. The classic graphical style is how I enjoyed Chrono Cross, and it has been a joy to finally experience this game after all these years.
The text-based adventure game “Radical Dreamers” (which served as a basis for Chrono Cross) is also included in this version of the game fully localized to English with subtitles provided for French, German, Italian, and Spanish.Ĭhrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition on PC feels more like an enhanced port offering both Chrono Cross and Radical Dreamers with some quality of life improvements on Steam. If you want to experience the game in its original form then look no further Radical Dreamers allows you to switch between the original and the remaster seamlessly by just toggling it on and off. A number of changes have also made their way to the games combat system giving it more quality of life improvements: an auto-battle system, the ability to change the games speed, battle boosts making the game easier if you just want to experience the story, and the option to turn on and off random encounters entirely. 
The legendary Yasunori Mitsuda the composer of the original game’s soundtrack has remastered all of the game’s music and added a new bonus track for you to discover. The countless models, fonts, and HUD used in this game including the over 40 possible party members you can get have been converted to HD making them look better on modern screens, Lead Designer Nobuteru Yuuki also makes his return making new artwork and character designs. 
CHRONO CROSS tells the story of a young man named Serge trying to live a simple life until that is when he accidentally slips into another timeline where for some reason nobody remembers you, from what people tell you the Serge in this dimension died 10 years ago, a child drowned near the beach afterward you meet a tomboy named thief named Kid. Radical Dreamers adds much-needed Visual updates, quality of life changes, polished music, and a plethora of other new changes.
One of the most Iconic JRPG franchises of all time makes its glorious return in Chrono Cross the Radical Dreamers is an HD remaster of the original Chrono Cross game released in 1999 for the original PlayStation.
